Workforce Equality Survey 2018

Closed 31 Dec 2018

Opened 20 Jun 2018

Overview

Everyone is unique owing to differences in age, gender, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation etc. The County Council aims to treat these differences positively, recognising that diversity creates a strong, flexible and creative workforce.

By filling out this short questionnaire, you will help us to better understand the make-up of our workforce and enable us to target development and other opportunities to our staff.

Why your views matter

Under the Equalities Framework for Local Government we have a statutory duty to collect this information to show that we are eliminating unlawful discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity. The Equality Act 2010 requires us to collect this data as part of our day to day business

We carry out equality and diversity monitoring every two years to make sure that the information we hold about our workforce is up to date.

In addition, we’d also like to know your military reserve status and if you are a retained Fire Fighter, as this information will help us to continue to provide council services in the event of a local emergency.

As part of our commitment to supporting staff with caring responsibilities, we’re also asking if you are a carer.

The information that you choose to provide will be used to update your individual personnel record, which is held on the secure SAP personnel information database (which is administered by a limited number of personnel staff). It also satisfies the Council's statutory duties to promote equality of opportunity.

Any information that you provide will be treated in strictest confidence, and will only be shared in an anonymised format for statistical monitoring purposes, unless the Council has a statutory responsibility or mandatory requirement to  report it in more detail.

Under data protection law, you have the right to request that the information you supply here be amended or deleted in future. For more information on how the Council processes personal data, and your rights under data protection law,  please see our employee privacy notice at https://intranet.escc.gov.uk/media/Documents/Human%20Resources/Privacy%20notice%20-%20Workforce%20Equalities%20Survey%202018.docx

Although you may well have provided this information in the past (when you applied for your job, or when you previously completed the survey), under data protection legislation we have a responsibility to make sure that the information we hold is up to date – your situation may have changed since you last completed the survey.
