We wanted feedback on a range of functionality and design options for the future sexual health website. The consultation ran between 22 October and 9 November 2020.

The consultation was promoted via social media channels and paid social media advertising, and cascaded through a range of health, care and voluntary organisations. Responses were incentivised by the offer of two lots of £50 Love2shop vouchers if responders wished to opt into the prize draw.

75 people took part in the online consultation. Most respondents were female, White British and over 16 years of age.

There was an equal split between respondents that had used the East Sussex sexual health website before and those who hadn’t. Most respondents hadn’t used a sexual health and contraception service in the last 12 months.

Website function and design

  • 50% of respondents preferred the “How can we help you today" drop-down menu.
  • 44% preferred the other functionality where you can see all the tasks and options laid out on tiles.

Promoting and advertising for the website

63% of respondents preferred the Whatever your sexual health needs…. Eastsussexsexualhealth.co.uk strapline. The adverts that used icons and images of contraception and healthcare were the significantly preferred option in terms of visuals and images used within advertising for the new website.

Next steps

Following this consultation, these preferences and feedback have been used to finalise the functionality and design of the new website, which will launch in late December 2020. It will be more compliant with accessibility requirements and have a new look.

The sexual health website will continue to have a feedback form to enable our residents and service users to provide feedback on the site should they wish to.

Two of the respondents who opted into the shopping voucher prize drawer for completing the survey were contacted after the consultation period ended. Both received their vouchers via post.
