Your experience of working in home care in East Sussex

Overview

East Sussex Adult Social Care wants to hear from people working in home care about their experiences of providing care and support at home.

This survey is part of a wider listening activity to understand experiences of home care from different perspectives, including people who receive care, unpaid carers, home care workers, providers and partners.

We asked some similar questions in 2024 to a small group of home care workers. Asking them again helps us understand what, if anything, has changed for people working in home care in East Sussex.

What we learnt from the 2024 survey

Nearly 90% of care workers always felt supported by their employer to develop their skills

Over 70% of care workers:

  • were offered an employment contract that met their needs
  • are paid on a rostered basis
  • feel their employment always supports them when they experience difficulties with work or wellbeing
  • are always offered information and support to maintain wellbeing

Over 60% of care workers always feel motivated and valued in their role, as well as respected and valued by colleagues.

Just under 50% of care workers feel they are allocated enough time to deliver their care duties.

We'd like to hear your feedback on what is and isn’t working well, and what is important to you about the care and support you provide, as well as what support you might need in the future.

Why your views matter

The Council pays services to provide care and support to people living in East Sussex, within their own homes.

We want services that work for people. By understanding the needs of people working in home care and the people they care for, and how those needs change, the Council can better understand what is important to people, to provide the right support at the right time.

Therefore, we'd like to know:

  • your experiences of home care services
  • what is important to you about home care
  • what support you might need in the future
