What is the People Bank?

Closes 1 Jan 2026

Opened 24 Nov 2023

Overview

The People Bank is a group of volunteers working with East Sussex County Council. Members get involved in opportunities, sharing their knowledge and lived experience to help influence the way that social care for adults is provided in East Sussex.

Involving People Bank members in our work is one way in which the council consults and engages with clients, carers and residents. Working in partnership helps us to get a clearer understanding of clients’ needs, and better services to meet those needs.

Adult Social Care and Health is committed to providing a high standard of accessible and inclusive People Bank member support. The People Bank is a place where your voice is heard, your ideas are valued, and you can make a meaningful difference.

You can add your voice to the mix of people helping to shape our services. If you live in or locally to East Sussex, and you’ve got lived experience of getting support from social care, or care for someone who has, we’d love you to join our People Bank.

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life and want them to enjoy the involvement opportunities they undertake with us. Volunteering means making a difference to others but also offers opportunities to connect with new people, develop new skills and grow your confidence.

Find out what it’s like to get involved and how your contribution can make a difference by reading some of our members’ stories.
