Heathfield Leisure Centre Consultation on Future Options - Public

Closed 9 Aug 2022

Opened 28 Jun 2022

Overview

This consultation seeks views concerning the future of Heathfield Leisure Centre (“the Leisure Centre”) from local residents; staff and pupils at Heathfield Community College ("the College”), and pupils’ parents/carers; and any other stakeholders.

As explained further below, East Sussex County Council (“the County Council”) intends that the Leisure Centre will continue to be used by the College.  However, it is considering different options so far as non-College / community use of the Leisure Centre is concerned.  Respondents are specifically invited to provide their views on three alternative options of:

(a) ending non-College / community use of the Leisure Centre ;

(b) keeping the Leisure Centre open for non-College/ community use (which appears likely to require subsidisation by the County Council); and

(c) considering alternative operating models consistent with the existing College use.

The consultation also provides respondents with the opportunity to make proposals as to how the Leisure Centre might be kept open for non-College / community use in a financially sustainable way.

On 14 June 2022, a Lead Member for Resources and Climate Change report approved the public consultation process to secure views on the future of the Heathfield Leisure Centre.
