B2244 Junction Road Bodiam 40mph Speed Limit Formal Consultation

Closed 11 Jun 2018

Opened 18 May 2018

Overview

It is proposed to reduce the speed limit on a section of the B2244 Junction Road, Bodiam in the vicinity of Udiam Cottages and Udiam Farm from the current national speed limit of 60mph to 40mph. The lower speed limit is to facilitate a full barrier level crossing that is proposed to enable reinstatement of the railway line from Robertsbridge to Bodiam linking the Kent & East Sussex Railway with the mainline railway network.

Initial consultations have been carried out. Based on the feedback received, we are now formally advertising changes to the speed limit.

Why your views matter

The lower speed limit will improve the safety of operation of the level crossing barrier, improve safety of access and egress to the adjacent properties and safety for all highway users in limiting the approach speeds to the two existing narrow bridge parapets.

The County Council is committed to reducing the number and severity of crashes on our roads; this section of the B2244 has also been identified as a priority due to crash history.

We want to hear your views on the proposal and whether you support the changes.

The proposed extents of the reduced speed limit are shown in the drawings in the 'related documents' section at the bottom of this page.

Please provide any feedback you may have.

What happens next

After the closing date of 11 June 2018 we will process all responses.

The level of support will determine the outcome of the proposals.

If there are no objections the restrictions will be introduced and the draft TRO made permanent. If objections are received, we will need to consider these and present a report to Planning Committee.
