Bikeability Uptake in Schools
Overview
Active Travel England’s target is for 80% of year 5&6 children in East Sussex to be offered a chance to take part in Bikeability Level 2 training in 2024-25.
The Governments ambition is for Bikeability cycle training to be available to every child in England.
Why your views matter
We would like to better understand from schools point of views what the challenges and barriers may be when thinking about booking Bikeability and Instructors delivering in your schools. Whether you have Bikeability every year or not yet had training we would like to hear from you.
Bikeability is about more than cycling. An active lifestyle improves both physical and mental health. Children are more alert, they are healthier, and they feel happier and more confident.
Bikeability helps schools stand out. The government rewards schools who embed Bikeability into their offer. Bikeability counts towards Modeshift STARS accreditation and the National STARS School Travel Awards. Ofsted value Bikeability and are keen to see schools show their extended curriculum.
