Bikeability Cycle training uptake survey 2025
Overview
We want to hear from your school, about Bikeability Cycle Training.
The Governments ambition is for Bikeability Level 2 cycle training to be available to every child in England. However, we have noticed a decrease in uptake of on-road cycling in East Sussex schools over the last year and would like to better understand the reasons behind this and get your schools thoughts on how we can engage further and reach out to parents/guardians.
Why your view matters
We are asking schools to take part in this survey so we can understand from a schools point of views what the challenges and barriers are to facilitate Bikeability. Whether you have training every year or not yet had training we would like to hear from you.
Bikeability is about more than cycling. An active lifestyle improves both physical and mental health. Children are more alert, they are healthier, and they feel happier and more confident.
Bikeability helps schools stand out. The government rewards schools who embed Bikeability into their offer. Bikeability counts towards Modeshift STARS accreditation and the National STARS School Travel Awards. Ofsted value Bikeability and are keen to see schools show their extended curriculum, as well as including Bikeability within your Schools Travel Plans.
We will use the results of this survey to evaluate how we can improve our current service. These results may be shared with the Bikeability Trust and Active Travel teams and wider Road Safety team in East Sussex.
