Eastbourne town centre pedestrianisation – Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) Timings Survey
Overview
East Sussex County Council is consulting on the proposed operating hours for an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) in connection with the Eastbourne town centre pedestrianisation scheme.
As part of this scheme, Terminus Road between Bankers’ Corner, Bolton Road, Langney Road and Lismore Road will be pedestrianised and the public realm improved.
The ETRO will regulate vehicular access, cyclist access, loading and unloading on this stretch of Terminus Road with the installation of removable bollards. This will come into effect once construction has completed which is currently programmed for the end of August 2026. The purpose of the ETRO is to trial the most suitable timings for the bollards to be in place to support the pedestrianisation of the area for business operations, cyclists and other members of the public.
The ETRO will allow the County Council to monitor the impacts of access restrictions and make adjustments if required.
The red line on the image attached shows the boundary of where the ETRO will be enforced.

Responses to this consultation will be considered alongside other relevant information before the ETRO operating hours are confirmed and formally implemented once construction of the scheme is complete.
