Lewes parking review 2016-17 - formal consultation
Overview
We receive many requests for new or changes to existing parking and waiting restrictions in Lewes. To manage these and make effective use of our budgets we have a priority ranking system. All requests are considered and locations given the highest priority are progressed as part of our regular reviews.
We have previously carried out informal consultations and based on the feedback received, we are now formally advertising changes to parking controls.
The proposals for this review are shown in the drawings in the 'Related documents' section at the bottom of this page. Please take the time to look at these carefully and then complete the online survey.
If you do not agree with the proposals you can make an objection. For your objection to be fully considered you must make it in writing and you will need to:
- tell us which drawing you are objecting to,
- explain the reason for your objection and
- ensure it is received before the end of the day on 24 March 2017
Consultation closes on 24 March 2017 so all comments need to be received by then.
Why your views matter
The proposals follow requests for changes to existing parking controls or where local residents, businesses or other road users want new controls to be introduced. There are areas where safety or access issues have been identified and it is felt necessary to introduce restrictions such as yellow lines or school keep clear markings.
We want to hear your views on the proposals and whether you have any reason for the proposals not being installed.
After the closing date of 24 March 2017 we will process all responses.
Any objections received will be carefully considered. If we cannot resolve the objections then we will include them in a report to be presented to Planning Committee.
Anyone who makes an objection may speak at the Planning Committee meeting. We will write to you closer to the time to advise of the meeting date and time. The Committee will consider all objections and will then decide whether to abandon or modify the proposals, or to install them as proposed.
Thank you for your interest in this consultation and for taking the time to look at the proposals.
