Offham Road, Lewes - Proposed Pelican Crossing
Overview
East Sussex Highways on behalf of East Sussex County Council are proposing putting in place a signal controlled pedestrian crossing, just to the north of the junction with Prince Edward’s Road to enhance pedestrian facilities.
The attached drawing shows the proposed location of the signal controlled pedestrian crossing. Aassociated changes also include:
- Introduction of two new street lighting columns with traffic signals at the location of the crossing;
- Installation of new lighting columns on both of the approaches to the crossing to ensure lighting levels meet current standards.
- Introduction of uncontrolled crossing at the junction of Offham Road and Wallands Crescent. This consists of dropped kerbs with tactile paving to aid ease of pedestrian movement.
- Relocation of existing north and south bound bus stops (within close proximity to existing location). As indicated on the enclosed drawing by the position of bus flags.
- The existing footway on the south side of Offham Road from it’s junction with Prince Edward’s Road will be widened and extended.
- New road markings and signs.
