Post 16 Transport Statement 2017-2018

Closed 22 May 2017

Opened 25 Apr 2017

Overview

Each year local authorities are required to consult young people of sixth form age and their parents as well as other stakeholders on the Post 16 Transport Statement before it is finalised.

Why your views matter

The County Council's current policy offers help with transport costs to young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) attending their nearest school/college. Assistance is given in only the most exceptional circumstances and only where families are unable to provide their own travel solution.

In line with statutory requirements, the County Council is now consulting on the policy statement for the 2017/18 academic year. The changes from the current policy are minimal with changes mainly to dates and names of panels dealing with applications. Comments are welcomed on any aspect of the proposed policy statement (see 'Related' below).

Please note that any travel assistance for Post 16 learners is discretionary and could be changed in the future subject to consultation
