School Streets Design- Southover CE Primary, Lewes

Closed 31 May 2024

Opened 10 May 2024

Overview

This consultation is about the School Streets Scheme for Southover CE Primary, Lewes.

East Sussex County Council (ESCC) are proposing to deliver a School Street Scheme for Southover CE Primary School. This aims to support a healthier local environment near to the school, by making it safer and more enjoyable for everyone in the community to walk, wheel or cycle.

Following a successful temporary School Street trial in 2021, East Sussex County Council has secured funding to deliver a School Street scheme using an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order.

The draft designs for the School Street have been developed and we are keen to get your views. These measures were collaboratively designed with the community to develop streets that are safer and more welcoming for the school and wider community. The changes will help reduce vehicle speeds and promote safer driving and active travel journeys.

Why your views matter

Please answer the survey questions so that we can get a good understanding of how these changes will impact on those who will be using the streets most.

The more responses we receive from people (whether you are a resident, business or a member of the school community) the better it will help us to understand whether we have created the right design.

What happens next

Once we have received feedback, we will review the comments and create a report and submit this to the Lead Member for Transport and Environment for approval. If this is approved, we will commission the construction.
