School Streets Scheme- All Saints Church of England Primary School, Sidley, Bexhill
Overview
This consultation opens on 6 September 2024 and closes on the 13 March 2025.
The aim of the School Streets scheme is to support a healthier local environment near to the school, by making it safer and more enjoyable for everyone in the community to walk, wheel or cycle.
Following a successful temporary School Streets trial in 2021, East Sussex County Council ran a consultation in May 2024, about delivering a School Streets scheme using an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO).
Following the positive responses to the consultation, the Council are now delivering Phase 1 of the School Streets scheme for All Saints Church of England Primary School including:
The Experimental Prohibition of Motor Vehicles on All Saints Lane
Road signs have been introduced on All Saints Lane to show the access restrictions around the school entrance areas at peak school hours:
The prohibition of motor vehicles will be Monday – Friday between the hours of 8.15-9.00 am and between the hours of 2.45-4.15 pm. Residents will be exempt from the restrictions.
These restrictions are being introduced for six months using an ETRO. The ETRO will enable the County Council to monitor the operation of the School Streets, to evaluate if it is working effectively, with the view to making it permanent thereafter.
A copy of the ETRO, plans showing the lengths of road and a statement of the Council’s reason for making the Order, may be examined from Friday 6 September in Reception at East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE: Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm or you can view them in the "related documents" section below.
Any person wishing to make an objection or other representation concerning this proposal must do so in writing, together with the grounds on which it is made, to East Sussex County Council, Communities Economy & Transport, Parking, B Floor – West Block, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE or by completing the survey below or by email to: tros@eastsussex.gov.uk quoting reference TRO/502 to arrive no later than 13 March 2025.
