Your views on The County Councils proposal to dispose of surplus school playing fields at Pells Church of England Primary School
Overview
Notice is given that East Sussex County Council proposes to dispose of its interest in land at the Pells Church of England Primary School when it closes at the end of the Summer term 2017.
The school playing fields are not required for further educational use and have been declared surplus by East Sussex County Council Lead Member for Resources.
The Pells School has playing fields measuring 8,522m² and ESCC would like to dispose of them, noting the Councils' obligation to obtain best value in line with Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972. The County Council would like to hear your views, to ensure that no other opportunities for the use of the playing field have been overlooked.
The sale proceeds from the school playing field will be used to fund specific capital projects to improve and enhance facilities at local schools.
Why your views matter
In order to dispose of the playing fields the Council needs the consent of the Secretary of State for Education under section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. As part of their requirements, the Council needs to consult and would like to hear your views.
