Change of age range at Wivelsfield Primary School

Overview

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 19 (1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 (as amended) and the School Organisation (Prescribed Alterations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013 that East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE is proposing to make a prescribed alteration to Wivelsfield Primary School, South Road, Wivelsfield, East Sussex RH17 7QN by lowering its age range from 4-11 to 2-11 with effect from 1 September 2023. 

Wivelsfield Primary School is a Community School.

The aim of the proposal is to integrate, fully, nursery provision into the Early Years Foundation Stage within the school. The governing board wishes to ensure that there will be nursery provision to support the local area and to offer high quality early education delivered by experienced and well-trained staff across the Early Years Foundation Stage.  The aim is to build on the work already done by the school to secure good outcomes for all children in the future. 

East Sussex County Council will implement the proposal.

This notice replaces the previous notice published on the 2 September 2022 and reflects a revised implementation date.

Why your views matter

We believe the proposal to lower the age range at Wivelsfield  Primary School will ensure a fully integrated Early Years Foundation Stage within the school to help secure good outcomes for all children in the future and support the local area.

The proposal is in line with council strategy for the integration of nursery and school provision.

It is proposed to implement the proposal on 1 September 2023.  It is not intended to implement the proposal in stages.
