The consultation showed that there was support for Phases 2 and 3 of the proposals, the Marina pedestrian and bus stop improvements and the changes to the layout of Sackville Road roundabout. However, there were concerns over pedestrian safety and the loss of green space with Phase 1 of the proposals, the suggested changes to Marina Court Avenue. From these findings it has been agreed to progress Phases 2 and 3 to detailed design and then construction while Phase 1 will not currently go ahead. Instead, Phase 1 will be reviewed and revised at a later date.

Why your views matter
East Sussex County Council is working with Rother District Council to develop a package of transport improvements in the town centre. The aim of these measures is to improve the economic vitality of the town centre area by making it easier for everyone to access and move around.
Following on from the recent improvements to Bexhill Seafront, the first area that has been identified for potential improvements is a central stretch of Marina, between Devonshire Road and Sackville Road.
The aim of the measures is to improve conditions for pedestrians travelling between the town centre and the seafront.
The improvements include:
- Upgrading the quality of the footways on Marina and Marina Court Avenue
- Relocating the existing zebra crossing near to the junction with Devonshire Road to make it easier to use.
- Introducing a 20 mph speed limit on Marina to improve the safety of all road users.
- Making it easier for pedestrians to cross the road at the Sackville Road roundabout.

What happens next
Your views will help us decide how the proposals will be taken forward.
We will report to the Lead Member for Transport and Environment in December, setting out the results of the public consultation and including our recommendations about whether the scheme should be taken forward for detailed design and consultation. A copy of the report will be available on the County Council's website nearer the time.
Thank you.
