The consultation showed that there was support for Phases 2 and 3 of the proposals, the Marina pedestrian and bus stop improvements and the changes to the layout of Sackville Road roundabout. However, there were concerns over pedestrian safety and the loss of green space with Phase 1 of the proposals, the suggested changes to Marina Court Avenue. From these findings it has been agreed to progress Phases 2 and 3 to detailed design and then construction while Phase 1 will not currently go ahead. Instead, Phase 1 will be reviewed and revised at a later date.

East Sussex County Council is working with Rother District Council to develop a package of transport improvements in the town centre. The aim of these measures is to improve the economic vitality of the town centre area by making it easier for everyone to access and move around.
Following on from the recent improvements to Bexhill Seafront, the first area that has been identified for potential improvements is a central stretch of Marina, between Devonshire Road and Sackville Road.
